  • Are Aedes Mosquito Killers toxic to children or pets?
Permethrin is safe for mammals. It would take over 40-50 containers of Aedes Mosquito Killers for a small pet to feel sick. Oral toxicity study conducted with the containers demonstrated LD>5,000mg/Kg p.c
  • What happens if an animal drinks the water?
Aedes Mosquito Killers are sprayed with permethrin inside the pot. Due to the hydrophobic nature of permethrin, there is very little insecticide in the water. The trap only works when the female mosquito lands inside the pot. Risk Assessment carried out for exposure to the container was evaluated by the regulatory body and demonstrated acceptable safety for contact and ingestion.
  • What do I do with Aedes Mosquito Killers after they biodegrade?
Aedes Mosquito Killers can be left to biodegrade or collected and disposed of in your trash bin.
  • What happens if it rains? Will they work in the rain?
Aedes Mosquito Killers have a hole near the top that prevents overfilling, and since the insecticide is coated on the inside of the trap, it will not diminish its effect. The devices have been tested in tropical areas, specifically during the rainy season, and still remain effective.
  • Will Aedes Mosquito Killers kill other insects?
Aedes Mosquito Killers are specifically designed to attract female mosquitoes.
  • What happens if water evaporates?
The water in the Aedes Mosquito Killers can be replenished until they leak, for up to a month.
  • How long do they last?
Aedes Mosquito Killers last for up to 4 weeks.
  • Should I use them year-round or only during mosquito season?
We recommend using Aedes Mosquito Killers year round in warmer climates as a preventative measure and at least a couple of weeks before mosquito season.
  • How many do I need for my space?
10 per acre or 1 for every 400m-squared.
  • I live in an apartment. Where should I put them?
On your balcony or next to the windows - essentially points of ingress.
  • Will I see dead mosquitoes immediately in the traps?
Most mosquitoes will get exposed to the mild insecticide, fly away and die soon after. You will notice a reduction in the mosquito population in the area within a few weeks.
  • What type of water should I use?
Regular tap water is fine. Do not use heavily chlorinated water like that found in swimming pools as that will repel the mosquitoes.
  • Can I put the trap in a container?
Yes, you may as long as the top is fully exposed. However, keep an eye on the trap for when it starts leaking and needs to be replaced.
  • Can I put the trap on a tray?
Yes! This would be a great way to avoid a puddle when the trap begins to leak.
  • Can I put the trap on carpet?
We do not recommend this as the traps are engineered to naturally begin leaking as the insecticide wears off.
  • How do I get in touch for ordering or if I have additional questions?
    Please contact info@biotraps.com
